Brian Cole Jr. / The case for his freedom

Brian is
100% innocent.

That is our conclusion from the evidence. His freedom is worth fighting for.

His grandmother recognized the coat. His mother described the masks she made for him. The Capitol footage places the man they identify as Brian on a different route from the hooded suspect. Read the evidence behind our case for his innocence.

A different route.
A serious challenge to the case.

The government says Brian is the man in the gray hoodie. His family says the cameras tell a different story.

01 / THE FOOTAGE

Two routes, overlapping times.

Baker and Armitas recovered cameras showing a man on the northwest side of the Capitol while the government places the hooded suspect on the southeast side. They say that man is Brian.

02 / THE IDENTIFICATION

His grandmother knew the coat.

Loretta Cole told reporter Steve Baker she bought Brian that jacket for Christmas. His mother described the masks she sewed for him. Both can be checked against the pictures.

03 / THE PHONE RECORDS

A tower connection is not a pinpoint.

The filings show which cell tower the phone touched, not the corner where Brian stood. One tower’s listed direction changed between two provider lists. The government says the first listing was wrong, and points to drive tests. The public filings do not include those measurements.

Apparent tactical equipment beneath the hoodie?

The latest Baker/Seraphin material points to a possible handgun outline, chest-mounted radio microphone, and body armor. Explore the saved video and annotated stills, with each interpretation explained and sourced.

Why the hoodie was matched to a Capitol Police officer.

The published comparison is former Capitol Police officer Shauni Kerkhoff: a listed height of 5 feet 7 inches, a reported right-leg limp, and a gait score Blaze News put at 94 to 98 percent. The page sets those traits beside the FBI file, the podiatrist who reached no conclusion, and the home-video alibi.

Before the arrest

To the neighbors,
he was the guy
who walked the Chihuahua.

Brian grew up in Woodbridge, graduated from Hylton High in 2013, and worked at his father’s bail-bonds office. Neighbors remembered him walking his small dog in shorts and red Crocs, even in the cold. [13]

His grandmother remembers a gentle grandson. His mother shared his smiling photograph for National Son’s Day. They have stood by him since his arrest in December 2025.

The civil-rights case

The government has to prove its case.
Brian does not have to prove he deserves rights.

If evidence could clear him, his lawyers should have it. If the confession is in dispute, a court should hear that fight. Every day he is held needs a lawful reason.

His lawyers challenge the way agents took his statements. The footage asks a separate question: was that him on the other side of the Capitol? Both belong in front of a judge, along with whether he should still be held.

We are asking for the evidence that helps him, a real hearing on the interview, and a fresh look at his detention.
